Youth in Transition

The Youth in Transition program for older youth is designed to seamlessly bridge from our universal programming to prepare the youth to grow into contributing and productive members of society. Between searching for summer jobs, preparation for post-secondary education, as well as life-skills coaching to prepare our youth for independence. Some of our youth have successfully completed the Learn2Earn program over the years. Some of our youth have successfully found and held full time employment, which leads to the next step, which is completion and submission of taxes. Some of our youth have also experienced the process of finding roommates and moving out.

Volunteer opportunities through Crystal Kids with the Foodbank are presented to some youth over the course of the summer. This presents the unique chance for some of the youth to develop workplace discipline,and build experience in a safe environment they are already comfortable with, while introducing the aspect of Foodbank clientele and other volunteers. Learning how to cope with the urgencies of a work environment is one of the largest take-aways from this opportunity.

Employment records, performance reviews and survey style interviews are used to document the progress and continued success of clients within the transition program. Volunteer hours within Crystal Kids are logged.
