A Day in the Life at Crystal Kids

Come with us on a day-in-the-life at Crystal Kids! It’s 3pm and you arrive at the front door, ringing the buzzer. A smiling staff lets you in and asks you how your day is going. You smell something tasty cooking coming from the kitchen. When you’ve put your backpack and jacket in one of the cubbies, you go to the washroom to wash your hands. Afterwards, you grab yourself an after school snack- today it’s yogurt and granola bars. Once you’re done eating, a staff asks if you would like to shoot some hoops in the gym. You play and are joined by other kids. Soon there’s a full on game going on and you’re getting to know the other kids. Just when you’re about to make a three-pointer, another staff comes into the gym and says it’s time for snack. You and all the other children pile into the main room where you’re served tomato soup and grilled cheese. It smells and tastes amazing.

After wiping down your table, you sit back down at your chair and start Snacktivity. One of the staff has prepared a geography game that’s going to help you on your Social Studies test tomorrow. All the kids get really into the game and you answer the final question, shouting “Winnipeg!” when the staff asks you what the capital of Manitoba is. Snacktivity has you worrying about your test tomorrow, and you ask one of the staff for some help with studying. Together you make flashcards and practice until you’re feeling a lot better about your upcoming test.

Afterwards, you take a turn on a computer in the computer lab and play some games with the other kids. Once your turn is done, you join in on Guitar Club and learn to play a new song. You look at the clock- it’s already 7:50pm and it’s time to pack things up! You put your guitar away, put on your jacket, help tidy up and a staff member lets you out at the front door. The staff says, “ have a good night- see you tomorrow!” as you start walking back home.
