Centre Fun
Come participate in our many daily activities – you can join us for some arts and crafts, come play some basketball or badminton (or any sport you’d like!) and maybe some video games too. We have many theme days and events throughout the week! Check our calendar for more information!

City of Edmonton Pools
We visit the city pools a whole bunch of times each summer where we get to enjoy some swimming and floating around in the water. Can’t swim? That is okay! Maybe someone can teach you!

Elks clinic
We’re going to get to visit the Edmonton Elks at the Commonwealth Stadium, and learn something from the players!

Elks Game
We’re going to get to watch the Elks game from the best seats in the house! Come out and support the team!

Library EPL program
We have the Edmonton Public Library coming each month to work on a number of activities with Crystal Kids. Lego! Robots! Button making? Comic books! There is always something you’ll be interested in.

Medicine Picking
We are going to go visit a specially selected location just outside of Edmonton where we are going to be taught the value of picking sage from the land. We get to be taught how to do it right – why is it important and why do we do it?

Wabamun Lake
Every year, we head over to Wabamun Lake with everyone, where we get to do some swimming, hang out in the sun, and get to ride some Jet Skis if we’re lucky!

Grand Masters
Grow your skills and self-worth through teamwork, friendly competition, fair play, and physical activity! Grand Masters is an on-going competition that involves facing off against other Crystal Kids in friendly sports and game matches. Short games of Basketball, Soccer, Badminton, Just Dance and Chess are the matches that are included in the current Grand Masters round. Through setting goals, practice, and lots of games over the months, players are ranked in top ten leaderboards.

Badminton Club
Every Saturday, Badminton Club is held for three hours after the other Crystal Kids go home. The gym is completely dedicated to badminton on Saturdays after closing. Help improve your badminton skills, and physical fitness in a positive, supportive environment. Badminton brings a calm vibe to the gym that is a lot quieter than some of the other sports, and some of the kids have found that it helps them focus and improve on their athletic skills. Crystal Kids partners with some local schools such as St. Alphonsus, Eastglen, St. Joseph and Spruce Ave to have space for badminton players to play for free on the weekend. Badminton Club has grown to 25-30 youth per week!

Academic Support
Need help with homework? Crystal Kids staff are more than happy to sit with you and help where needed. We can also connect parents, teachers and students to help you learn as best as possible. Crystal Kids knows that sometimes going to school is hard for some kids, and we do our best to help every kid succeed. Whether that is through figuring out what’s getting in the way of you getting to school, gentle reminders to complete schoolwork, or practicing what you’re learning- we’re here to help. We believe that every child can succeed in school and want to be a part of your success!

Sleepover
At the end of July, we’ll be hosting a sleepover party for kids over the age of 10. We’ll get to run some special programming for everyone, and it’s going to be a secret what the theme is. You’ll need to be here to find out. In the past we’ve done an AmongUs theme, another year a Murder Mystery. See you there!

Youth in Transition
When the time comes for you to transition from being a Crystal Kid to being out in the world, we can be there through our Youth in Transition Program. Designed for older teenagers, we can help you with searching for summer jobs, resume building, interview preparation, applying for school, and general life skills. We can even help you with filling out your taxes, finding roommates, and other kinds of adulting!

Baking Crew
Nutrition is a large part of our services at Crystal Kids, and part of that is the skills necessary to put together a meal from some of the sources of food that is available to our families – the Foodbank being a key part to this. Youth will have the opportunity to, with the guidance of staff, to learn how to cook and bake entire meals with the commonly available products from a weekly Foodbank hamper that is delivered to any and all Foodbank depots.

Indigenous and Cree Class
Cultural
Guided by a knowledge keeper, Sweetgrass Warrior, Crystal Kids have been able to learn more about their Cree culture through experiences outside of the city, and at the centre. This past summer, the older girls at Crystal Kids went to Alexander First Nation for a Sweat. At Crystal Kids, we have events for cultural activities such as rattle-making, ribbon-skirt making and beading. It’s a special way to learn cultural skills right in your neighbourhood. Learn more about the land you live on and your own culture.
